Located in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago this project consisted of redesigning the client’s basement. The basement was designed to be comfy and cozy with the use of a neutral color palate along with textured grass cloth wall paper. Color was introduced through abstract artwork to add additional visual interest and to break up the neutrality of color palette. The client wanted to bring in nature to the basement to break away from the concrete jungle of the city. A thick tufted area rug with abstract tree branches was introduced to define the main seating area. Other interesting design elements include a custom cut birch tree branch display with river rock fill from their cottage in Michigan, tree stumps side tables and rustic wood textures through-out. The existing steel column was wrapped in reclaimed wood add warmth to the interior.
