This 13,000 SF office is located on the top floor of the Reid Murdoch building in Chicago. The office has an industrial and high-tech feel with its exposed concrete deck, epoxy coated concrete floor and stainless steel accent trim. The exposed concrete deck was painted white to reflect more light and conceal imperfections in the concrete. Artemide pendant lights are used in the open office. Their small size only 2” square, does not distract from the exposed ceiling. The company color is red so it was used on the walls and furniture to brand the space. To offset the red accents and industrial atmosphere, wood veneer was used in both light and dark stains to bring warmth and nature into the space. The systems furniture and occasional chairs are by Knoll. Double sided etched glass is used to provide privacy for the conference room and lounge. The reception desk adorns a thermoformed curved Corian transaction top that mimics the company’s logo with a built in planter containing grass. The lounge space in the middle of the floor plan is used for entertaining, presentations, meetings and as a break area. The lounge has a wet bar area with concealed refrigerators and dishwasher. A separate break area is provided with a recycling station. The private offices were kept close to the building core so natural light filtered in the office for everyone to enjoy.
